Buddhist tradition describes that the Buddha visited Swat during his rebirth as the Guatama Buddha and propagated his teachings to the people here. Swat can be reached directly by road and air via Peshawar, Islamabad and Rawalpindi. People preferring public transport can reach there through regular bus and van service between Rawalpindi and Mingora. PTDC operates tourist coach service for Saidu Sharif and Kalam from June 1st –August 30th every year.

During summers temperature ranges from 10C to 25C which is ideal for summer holidays to enjoy the beauty of lush green meadows and thick green forests of Pine & Deodar trees. During winter season temperature falls down to 5C to –10C, and the snow falling makes it a perfect place for skiing. The maximum temperature in July is about 38 Centigrade and the minimum recorded temperature during January is 1 Centigrade.
