It is true to say a visit to Quetta is incomplete without a trip to Ziarat. Ziarat is located 133 kilometers away from Quetta at a height of 2449 metres above sea level. Ziarat is one of the best holiday resorts amidst one of the biggest and oldest Juniper forests in the world. It is believed that some of the Juniper trees are 5000 years old. The name Ziarat means, “Shrine”. Because it is believed that a local saint, named Kharwari Baba, stayed in the valley and blessed it. After his death people frequently began to visit the saint’s shrine, which is located at a distance of 10 kilometers from Ziarat.
Weather in Ziarat hill station (Sibi district of the province of Baluchistan) remains quite cool during summer season while during winters it receives enough snowfall. Light woollen clothing for summers and heavy clothing for the winters are suggested. This place is open for tourists all the year round; mostly tourist season is at its peak from May to October.
