Multan, known as the City of Saints, is one of the oldest cities in Pakistan, located on the banks of River Chenab. There are number of shrines, mosques and ornate tombs. The famous Sufi Saint and major Punjabi poet, Fariduddin Ganjshakar popularly known as Baba Farid was born here. It is considered the economic hub of southern Punjab and is active center for political activities. 61% of the population of Multan speaks Sairiki whereas around 22% are Punjabi speaking.
The strong cultural base of the city makes it prominent among the other major cities. Agricultural land of Multan has many farms and thus its fertile plains produce one of the best mangoes in the world. Cultivation of wheat, cotton sugarcane and some other fruits is also done here. There are various tourists attraction found here and the city is extremely welcoming and hospitable especially for the foreign visitors.
Being the major city in the southern Punjab, Multan is linked to other areas and cities via road, as well as by Air, as it has international airport. Train can be taken from Lahore, Sukkur and other cities to Multan. The prominent bus services like Faisal Movers, Daewoo and other can also be used to reach Multan in no time with comfort and ease. Travelling through trains lets you have a better view of the country side. It is around a 7-9 hours drive from the Lahore. You can go by driving yourself also.
From November to March, weather of Multan is pleasant and temperature is lower. Whereas, April to October temperature is considerably hot. Throughout the year it is mostly dry, with little rainfall.
