Lahore has been the center of Punjab for about 1,000 years. Lahore is best known for its great Mughal architecture, rich cultural heritage, academic and intellectual resources. Since two centuries this city has been the center of Mughal architecture as the city was adorned with palaces, gardens, monuments and mosques. During the British rule, many monuments were built in Lahore which complimented the Mughal, Gothic and Victorian styles of architecture.
Historically, it has been proved that Lahore is about 2,000 years old.
It was named after two sons of Rama about 4,000 years ago. Hieun-tsang, the famous Chinese Pilgrim, has given a flamboyant account of Lahore city, which he visited in the7th century AD. Abu Rehan Al-Biruni, in his famous book Tarikh-e-Hind, at the time of Mahmud Gazni's attack, also mentioned Lahore in detail. Being present on the major trade and invasion route via South Asia, this city has been governed, built and looted by several of dynasties and armies.
As Lahore city is present on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road, Lahore is connected with all main cities of Pakistan by road, rail and air. You can avail several daily flights, trains and bus services connecting Lahore with Karachi, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan and dozens of other cities & towns of the Pakistan. Numerous private transport companies like Daewoo Express, Sky Ways, New Khan Road Runners, and Kohistan Bus Service etc provide regular air-conditioned bus services between Lahore and main cities of Pakistan. PIA and International Airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Uzbekistan Airways and Air India etc have their direct flights to Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore.

As the temperature in summer remains high (35-50 centigrade), while winter is cold with fog in January so October and March are considered as the best months to visit Lahore.
