Kotli Sattian

Kotli Sattian is a Tehsil of Murree District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Its name is derived from the mountain town of Kotli and the Satti tribe. This subdivision is geographically a part of the Murree and Kahuta hills. It was declared a subdivision in 1990 by breaking up 40 villages out of both subdivisions.

 

The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has actively developed Kotli Sattian under sustainable eco-adventure initiatives: 

  • Panjpeer Rocks: A massive, rugged sandstone rock formation offering incredible cliffside views, highly popular for hiking and rock climbing.
  • Chewra Hill Site & Base Resort: Home to the newly developed TDCP glamping setup, which offers modern, illuminated eco-friendly A-frame pods, treehouses, and local standard restaurants. 
  • Fire Watch Tower: A colonial-era historical structure located at a high vantage point, providing sweeping 360-degree panoramic views of the Himalayan foothills. 
  • Neela Sandh & Waterfalls: Natural turquoise freshwater ponds and waterfalls located along the travel routes, ideal for short day-trip swimming and picnics.

Weather In Kotli Sattian

  • Spring (March to April): Best for lush greenery and blooming wildflowers. The weather is cool and pleasant, making it perfect for hiking around Panjpeer Rocks. 
  • Summer (May to August): Best to escape the intense heat of Islamabad and Lahore. Temperatures remain moderately cool (around 20°C to 28°C), which is ideal for camping at the Chewra Hill resort and swimming in the freshwater pools of Neela Sandh. 
  • Autumn (September to October): Best for clear skies and golden landscapes. The autumn foliage offers beautiful photography opportunities, and the crisp air is perfect for nighttime bonfires. 
  • Winter (November to February): Best only if you are looking for chilly weather and occasional snowfall. However, it can get extremely cold, and the dense fog or icy roads can make driving up the steep, winding mountain passes hazardous.
